1. From planets to cells (BI3244): Co-teaching with Dr. Ramon Brasser (Konkoly Observatory) Years taught: 2020, 2022, 2024 (Spring Sem).--  The main objective of this course is to give a comprehensive overview of how life came about on Earth, starting from how the stage was set geologically to enable life’s emergence, to actually understanding how chemistry would have transitioned to biology on the early Earth. The former involves aspects of planetary sciences/geology that is taught by Dr. Ramon Brasser. The latter aspects involve giving the students insights into the geochemistry and prebiotic chemistry that was feasible in pertinent geological niches, and how that potentially transitioned to biological chemistry, all of which set the stage for the origin and early evolution of life on our planet (covered by Dr. Sudha Rajamani).

2. Advanced Biochemistry-1 (BI3174): Co-teaching with Dr. Siddhesh Kamat

Years taught: Since 2012 (Fall Sem).--  The course aims at introducing advanced concepts in biochemistry and provides a framework to understand basic biomolecular function. Its special emphasis is on studying enzymes as biological catalysts and understanding the chemistry of enzymatic transformations. It also deals with routine and advanced methodologies used in generating and analyzing biochemical data. This course is essentially meant to help understand biology from the point of view of molecules and physicochemical principles.
